The clients for this handsome home in Niwot, Colorado brought a desire for East Coast traditions to the Colorado foothills. The resulting residence merges classically inspired shingle-style forms with the local materials of Colorado lodge architecture. The native river rock base anchors the home to its foothills site. Tuscan-columned porches wrap the home to protect it from the Colorado elements, and to offer sweeping views of the Rocky Mountain back range. Much of the interior reflects a relaxed Hampton’s style. The home’s large family zone changes personality with equally informal lodge style materials. Here the two-story space features peeled pine columns and a massive river-rock fireplace which capture the feel of the West.
