A 1970s home in poor condition and with a confusing floor plan in Boulder, Colorado was the starting point for this total renovation. Preserving the original shell of the home, Pokorny added new spaces and opened up others to unrealized mountain views creating a home with a new personality. Functionality of the overall floor plan was established. Distinctly modern interpretations of turn-of-century arts and crafts details are combined with old, industrial materials. The resulting new home creates a perfect backdrop for an eclectic combination of antique and contemporary furnishings. A sheltering front porch, and repeating gable forms with factory-inspired window walls were created. Original and new construction are seamlessly combined into a single cohesive building.
